Development Manager

Position Description

As a Development Manager, you will be responsible for developing and executing fundraising strategies to support our mission. You will work closely with our Executive Director and Program and Strategic Initiatives Director to set fundraising goals and secure funding from individuals, foundations, and corporations.

Reports to: Program and Strategic Initiative Director

Status: Full-time

Location: 540 Suismon St., Pittsburgh PA 15212.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop fundraising strategies to optimize revenue and maximize community reach
  • Develop and implement fundraising plans that increase awareness
  • Establish and communicate effectively with volunteers, donors, and community leaders
  • Develop strong partnerships with community leaders and organizations to provide business support
  • Promote and market HOPE’s programs to attract new donors
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with existing donors
  • Develop and implement a fundraising strategy for capital projects
  • Effectively manage and maintain donor database
  • Develop fundraising materials, including brochures, newsletters, and website content
  • Maintain accurate financial records, including donor records, gift acknowledgements, and financial reports to ensure accurate record keeping and fundraising efficiency
  • Conduct research and participate in grant writing
  • Create and coordinate fundraising efforts, including solicitation letters, presentations, events, and social media campaigns
  • Develop and execute campaigns that raise critical funds, including annual giving, major gifts, and planned giving
  • Assist in development and preparation of donor reports
  • Develop and manage events, including fundraisers, donor receptions, and galas
  • Support Program and Strategic Initiative Director, including in researching and pursuing potential donors
  • Ensure that Foundation of HOPE complies with all donor privacy and disclosure requirements
  • Support the development of fundraising strategies and plans.
  • Cultivate donor relations through the entire donor cycle (prospecting, soliciting, and
    stewarding)
  • Lead the preparation of concept notes, grant proposals, and donor reports and associated
    packages of materials explaining the organization’s workCoordinate with the Finance Consultants to develop and manage grant budgets

  • Comply with the Foundation of HOPE’s personnel policies, standards, and procedure
  • Personally exemplify the values and the mission of HOPE
  • Agree to sign a confidentiality agreement regarding all aspects of client, staff, and HOPE information
  • Maintain professionalism in communication, personal interactions, and attire

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of development best practices, foundations of individual giving, and the fundraising cycle
  • Awareness of common fundraising techniques, tools, and procedures
  • Experience with CRM software
  • Knowledgeable in monitoring & evaluation (M&E) techniques
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to use discerning judgment while being proactive and responsive
  • Keen attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Team player willing to be flexible and adaptable

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 3+ years’ proven experience managing fundraising campaigns
  • Track record of garnering new donors and substantial levels of funding per year
  • Excellent donor relations skills
  • 2+ years’ experience with fundraising event planning
